WESTERN Sydney swimmers have proved their prowess in winning the RSL state championships in Muswellbrook recently.
Penrith, Rooty Hill, Castle Hill and Riverstone clubs made up zone four, which won the event by 33 points.
Penrith RSL Swimming Club president Carol Prain said she was astonished to see the group win by such a margin.
"We won the championships a couple of years ago but we didn't expect to do as well as we have this time around," Prain said.
"The whole zone is absolutely ecstatic about winning it.
"Normally the victor wins by about 10 points but we finished ahead by 33."
Several swimmers recorded personal best times.
"(The team) started well and the minute the kids saw that I think it pumped them up," Prain said.
"It is fantastic for the kids to have done so well.
"About half of them came from Penrith RSL so we are even happier."
