BATTER Brett Collison's score of 78 runs has placed Blacktown Warriors in the box seat in their two-day match against Manly-Warringah.
Complemented by Timothy Doonan's score of 67, Blacktown finished day one with figures of 7-219 from 70 overs at Manly Oval. Nathan Sowter and Daya Singh added to the score with 23 and 21 runs respectively.
Warriors captain Tony Clark was happy with the batting performance.
"We did really well on this kind of wicket," Clark said. "We have to compliment Timothy and Brett's batting because it was top notch. It puts us in a great position to go on with it on Saturday."
Blacktown is in ninth spot on the Sydney Grade Cricket ladder with six wins and one draw from 13 matches.
Grant McCartin's score of 103 helped Blacktown's second-grade side reach 242 runs from 77 overs.
Meanwhile, Manly sits on 4-55 in reply.
The first-grade match will continue at Manly Oval on Saturday at 10.30am.
