Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne prepares for hostile crowd ahead of March 5 fight with Ruslan Chagaev

FORMER nightclub bouncer Lucas Browne will be ­prepared for anything when he takes on Ruslan Chagaev in Chechnya on March 5.

While 10,000 hostile Chagaev fans will be cheering against him in Chechnya, Browne will have a few big name supporters in his corner.

The 36-year-old has been preparing for the bout against Chagev with trainer Rodney Williams and ­former World Boxing Organisation middleweight champion Nigel Benn at Blacktown PCYC.

Browne turned to boxing professionally at age 30 after 13 years working as a security guard and now boast an incredible record of 23 wins from 23 fights including 20 knockouts.

Attempts at professional Mixed Martial Arts and kickboxing also ensued but it was boxing which was Browne’s true calling.

“My natural style is to stand up and punch which didn’t really fit in with the wrestling required in MMA,” he said.

“When I was young I looked up to boxers like Mike Tyson and dreamt of one day being the heavyweight champion of the world.”

With a win against Chagaev, Browne will set himself up with a shot at the title he has dreamt about.

“This fight is everything for me right now,” Browne, of Baulkham Hills, said.

“It is great to have the ­support of guys like Nigel Benn who have been there to cheer me on through the gruelling training regimen,” he said.

Browne said he hoped to win his fight, slated for the with a knockout in the Chechnyan capital city of Grozny.

“I don’t want to put the result in the hands of the judges,” he said.

“The only judges I want deciding who wins is my left and my right.”
