The 17-year-old all-rounder, who has been named the next big thing in Australian cricket by former Australian captain Greg Chappell, continues to shine at an international under-19 level.

Breaking into first grade for Hawkesbury at the tender age of 15, Nair is quickly becoming a star of the future.

This season he was selected as a rookie for the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League and in the NSW Futures League team.

“It has been an incredible few months in cricket for me and I’m feeling really confident about how I’m progressing as a player,” Nair said.

“To have the chance to represent Australia at under-19 level is a dream come true and, hopefully one day, I will be able to go the next step and earn myself a baggy green cap.”

Nair was one of the standout performers during the Australian under-19 tour of the subcontinent, scoring a century from only 89 balls against Pakistan and taking 10 wickets for the series.

The Canberra-born Girraween resident will this year balance cricket with study when he begins a Bachelor of Business and Marketing course at Western Sydney University.

He plans to hone his skills on the pitch as well.

“I’m always trying to improve my skills and become a better player,” he said.

“I try to get down to the nets as much as possible.

“I’m determined to take my cricket career as far as possible.”
