Bethany Parker is on top of the world.
The Kings Langley resident bagged four gold medals and broke two world records at the Asia and Oceania Powerlifting Titles in Uzbekistan that were held in December.
Competing in the sub-junior 84kg category, the 16 year-old could not be beaten.
Bethany claimed gold in the bench, squat and dead lift events as well as the overall competition gold.
The Crestwood High School Year 12 student’s squat lift of 165.5kg broke the sub-junior world record as did the combined total weight of 442.5kg lifted in her three events.
“It was an incredible experience competing in Uzbekistan,” Bethany said.
“It is amazing to think I really only took up the sport less than a year ago,”
“It feels like I’ve been powerlifting for years.
“It was the best competition I have taken part in and I couldn’t be any happier with how I performed.’’
