DETERMINED to make the most of his football scholarship, Glenwood’s Nick Fitzgerald is breaking records in England.
The 16-year-old accepted a scholarship to study and play football at renowned Brooke House College in Leicestershire in August and has hit the ground running since making the shift.
Despite a move out of his preferred midfield position to striker, Fitzgerald has excelled beyond expectations scoring four goals in his past three games.
The speedster was the star of the show in Brooke House’s last match scoring a hat-trick in a 3-2 win.
He also broke an English College record for slotting a goal with his left boot after only 16 seconds.
While Fitzgerald experienced a steep learning curve in his first few matches, his mother Yvette Fitzgerald said her son was now settling in on and off the pitch.
“His first few matches in the UK were tough as it is a much higher level there,” she said
