The 18-year-old returned to Australia last week after participating in the world finals of the Nike Most Wanted football talent competition at St George’s Park in London. Nascimben was selected to take part in the global talent search finals after being crowned the Australian champion in October.

A member of the Spartans’ NSW Premier League side and elite under-20s youth team, the Westfield Sports High, Fairfield West, student took his place alongside the world’s best up and coming players when they were run through drills to see who would be crowned the winner of the Nike talent search.

Despite being unsuccessful, Nascimben said he was a better player for the experience.

“As a young footballer being given the opportunity to travel overseas to train and play with the best is what you dream of,” he said.

“The Nike Academy coaches pushed everyone to work their hardest and I know it has helped me develop.

“I’m really excited to get back to training with the Spartans and prepare for another big season.”
