TAVLEEN Singh is focused on competing at the IAAF World Junior Championships next year after winning her first Australian title.

Singh, 17, of Glenmore Park, won the 200m at the Australian junior athletics championships recently.

Starting her career with Randwick Botany Little Athletics aged seven, Singh made the change to the Kurrajong Bilpin club after moving to Glenmore Park.

"I was over the moon to win the 200m title, especially after not doing well in the 100m race the day before," Singh said.

"I was really determined and confident I would do well in the 200m."

Singh has a personal best time of 24.29sec in the 200m.

She now hopes a strong training regime practising six days a week will help her reach her ultimate goal.

"The World Junior Championships are high on the radar, and they are in America next year," she said.

"Apart from that I would like to go to the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games in years to come."
