PENRITH Panthers recruits made a big impact on debut in a dominant 32-18 win over the New Zealand Warriors.
Former Warrior Lewis Brown was the chief destroyer, scoring two tries.
Coach Ivan Cleary made several changes to his squad throughout the match, trying different combinations.
Captain Kevin Kingston said he was pleased with the team's defence.
"We were strong early on defensively and forced them into a few errors," he said.
"The new guys have added a great harmony to the group, and the positive team aspect there is the defence, if you trust and respect each other the defence will be good."
Dean Whare, who shared the fullback duties with Wes Naiqama against the Warriors, said he was glad to make his Panthers debut in his home country.
"It was good to get out on the field and play my first game for the Panthers, and at Hamilton with all my family there. I'm looking forward to the season," he said.
The Panthers host the Parramatta Eels in the annual Battle of the West trial at Centrebet Stadium this Saturday at 5pm.
