PENRITH Panthers junior representative teams gave their competitors a strong warning after a successful start to the season on Saturday.
The club's Harold Matthews (under-16) side beat Central Coast 28-12 before the SG Ball (under-18) team's strong second half saw them win 38-4.
Panthers recruitment manager Jim Jones said it was a fantastic start to the season.
"The first games of the season are always tough because everyone is so fresh," he said. "Our Harold Matthews team battled hard for their win and the SG Ball team were too good in the second half.
"Brent Naden was man of the match for the SG Ball team and showed he could be a player of the future.
"Soni Luke, Tyrone Maiava and Oliver Clarke also played very well."
Jones is now hoping the teams can make it two from two against the Balmain Tigers at Centrebet Stadium this Saturday.
"Starting the season with two from two would definitely send a message to the rest of the competition," he said. "But Balmain is always tough so we will have to be ready for them.
"I think last year they won the SG Ball so we expect a couple of good games on the weekend."
