PENRITH Emus were humiliated in round one of the Shute Shield competition in a 74-10 loss to Warringah at Pittwater Rugby Park on Saturday.
The unexpected 12 tries to one thumping was compounded by a red card to Keori Okati.
Emus coach Teki Tu'ipulotu was "devastated and embarrassed with the performance".
"All the hard work we did in the pre-season and the good trial form was just left behind in the change rooms," he said.
"It is very disappointing in that sense, as I know we are better than that.
"Warringah weren't a 74-point margin ahead of us, it was just that we played that bad.
"The boys weren't there mentally everyone was prepared during the week but it was just thrown out the window."
Tu'ipulotu is taking it as a "minor hiccup" and has asked his team to leave the loss behind them for this week's clash with Gordon.
"I'll be working on getting all the boys ready mentally again," he said.
"We just need the right attitude and urgency on the park."
