A RANGE of colours swept across Jamison Park on Saturday with the start of the Penrith District Netball Association season.
Players and officials from all 22 clubs participated in the annual march past at 8.15am before the games started.
Association president Joy Gillett was pleased with the turnout.
"The start to the season went extremely well with the march past," Gillett said. "There really was a carnival atmosphere out there with a lot of colour, balloons and music.
"The march past has been a tradition for many years where teams get dressed up and march around a square with the Penrith Valley Concert Band performing music.
"I would estimate about 2000 people were there supporting their kids, grandkids as well as many people who just popped in to have a look."
Rain did not disturb the proceedings, as was feared, with games going to plan throughout the day.
"It was really a very successful start to the season," Gillett said.
"Now we have another week of netball before two weeks off for school holidays before we return for a big chunk of action."
