PENRITH Baseball Club's aim for a strong second half in the Sydney Major League competition began positively after they defeated Blacktown 3-2 at Andrews Road Baseball Complex.
After losing to Blacktown 5-3 last week, Penrith were hungry for revenge.
Head coach Peter Godbold said the team performed well against strong competition. "The guys were really happy with their performance," he said.
"They played with a lot of composure and did well in a tight game.
"From the beginning of the season our aim was to be disciplined in what we did and that showed."
However, despite the latest win Penrith remain on the bottom of the competition ladder.
"I think if we keep playing the way we did we can jump off the bottom before the end of the season," Godbold said.
"We always knew this season would be tough [for us] after a few players left. Next year we are looking at Lionel Harris, who is a Baseball NSW "Hall of Famer", getting involved in the coaching.
"We've had a few players come across to us from other clubs for this season and we are hoping to get some more imports into the squad," he said.
