OLYMPIC silver medallist Jessica Fox completed the perfect preparation for the upcoming Australian Open after winning the K1 and C1 events at the Oceania Championships last weekend.
The Leonay resident beat her sister Noemie and fellow local Ros Lawrence in the canoe and kayak slalom events in New Zealand.
"It was good to be out on the water again and competing against international competitors," Fox said. "My aim was to improve on my results from the nationals a few weeks ago and I did that.
"My next goal is to win the Australian Open, which is also our selection trials for the World Cup and world championships this year."
Fox is confident she will qualify for the Australian team. She returned to training immediately after her Oceania Championships success.
She is hoping for a big crowd at the meet. "It is a great chance to see some of the best paddlers in the world because a lot of European paddlers come out to Penrith to train this time of year," she said.
"I know there are a few Olympic medallists competing in a few races."
