FORMER Panthers player Brad Waugh was awarded life membership of the club at its recent annual general meeting.

Waugh, 55, of Emu Plains, was a Penrith junior and played 85 first grade games between 1976 and 1986.

The Panthers on the Prowl general manager said he was honoured to be nominated.

"Steve Martin and Mick Kelly, who are both ex-teammates of mine, nominated me for life membership," he said.

"I was quite shocked to be nominated but also very humbled by it.

"I've been involved with the club for about 45 years now, starting from being a part of the first representative under-11s side in 1968.

"I got to play 11 seasons with the club, so it is something I hold close to my heart."

He said founding the Panthers Ex-Players Association was also something he is very proud of.

"I am still the president of the ex-player assocation and it is always good to catch up with old teammates," he said.

"The club was generous enough to give us a corporate box for all home games where we invite 18 ex-players.

"A lot of the time players haven't seen each other for 30 to 40 years."

Panthers Group chief operations officer Sue McNeill was also awarded life membership.
