AFTER a stellar season where they hit the top of the ladder, Sydney Blue Sox fell to Perth Heat in the Australian Baseball League preliminary final.
Sydney fell one series short of the finals for the third year in a row.
Perth swept both games of a double-header on the weekend (4-1 and 8-6) at Blacktown International Sports Park to book a final spot against Canberra Cavalry.
In game two, Perth were quick to take a lead, with two runs in the first finning.
Sydney countered on an RBI single from Boss Moanaroa and an RBI ground-out from Michael Lysaught, tying the score at 2-2. However, Perth hit back to take a 6-2 lead in the third and held on for victory.
Chris Oxspring and Matt Williams pitched well for the Blue Sox.
It will be the reigning champion Heat's third straight finals.
