AUSTRALIAN teen bowling sensation Pat Cummins is eyeing an upcoming Australian A tour to make his return to first class cricket.
Cummins missed the Australian summer after breaking down with a series of back fractures after the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in October.
Speaking at Penrith Cricket Club's annual Captain's Lunch on Friday, Cummins said he was close to full fitness.
"I had three months off bowling but I am back now at about 80 per cent," Cummins said.
"It's been a year where I haven't played heaps of cricket but at the same time I played close to 20 one-day and Twenty20 games.
"So it has been a decent year."
The 19-year-old has recently made appearances in the Sydney grade competition for Penrith but has been restricted to batting only.
His next aim is to make a claim for the Ashes squad.
"The Ashes is in July, so it is still a fair bit away," he said.
"Obviously there are a few guys playing at the moment who are ahead of me.
"There is an Australian A tour in May or June, so I would like to be on that tour and see where it takes me.
"But in between there I will spend a far bit of time here in NSW and at the centre of excellence up in Brisbane."
