Two waterside mansions and an apartment building in Sydney’s eastern suburbs are set to be demolished for an expansive $43 million apartment complex.
Developers revealed plans to Woollahra Council for a five-storey apartment complex at Yarranabee Road in Darling Point in January, forecasting the demolition of a series of waterside properties and the construction of eight luxury apartments.
Planners for the project, which has been in the works since 2012, claimed the new proposal would “enhance views” for surrounding properties.
“The proposed residential flat building will improve the appearance of the site when viewed from the Harbour and maintain compliance with the Harbour Foreshore,” the planner said.
“The proposal meets the zone objectives of providing a residential flat building that aligns with the character of the area, as well as the desired future character.”
The residential apartment complex will include a gym, sauna and steam room, as well as units ranging from four to six bedrooms.
“The proposal replaces three buildings on the existing site - a 4 apartment complex and two large homes with eight high-end apartments contributing to improved housing infrastructure in the precinct with improved urban design outcomes,” the planner said.
“The proposed development provides a premium level of amenity for residents, with generously sized apartments accommodating open plan living spaces, large bedrooms with ensuites, built-in storage … generous private open space, and secure on-site parking.”
The $43 million development by Yarranabbe Ventures will be determined by Woollahra Council.
