Three Victorian teens and 12-year-old arrested after pursuit from Edmondson Park to Bondi Junction

Three Victorian teens and a 12-year-old girl allegedly led police on an “extremely dangerous” chase stretching from Sydney’s southwest to the eastern suburbs where two rookie cops arrested them.

Three teens and a 12 year old have been arrested following a dramatic police pursuit which began in Sydney’s southwest and ended more than 40km away at Bondi Junction on Thursday.

Campbelltown police initiated the pursuit after a vehicle allegedly failed to stop at Edmondson Park about 10.30am.

The car, a Mazda CX3, had been reported as stolen from a home in Victoria the day before.

The chase allegedly continued down the M5 towards the M7 Prospect, before police were forced to abandon the operation over safety concerns.

After the Polair helicopter managed to locate the car a short time later, police resumed the pursuit but it was again terminated when projectiles were allegedly thrown from inside the car.

The car was then tracked travelling eastbound passing through Alexandria, Zetland, Centennial Park, Randwick and Bondi Junction where it was allegedly dumped at a bus interchange.

All four occupants allegedly fled the car and began running down the platform at Bondi Junction station, with police running close behind.

Two teenage boys aged 14, and two girls aged 12 and 17, were arrested by officers on their first day as probational constables.

They were taken to Surry Hills Police Station and are assisting police with inquiries.

It will be alleged the group travelled from Melbourne overnight before arriving in Sydney early Thursday morning.

Detectives are now working with Victoria Police to determine how the four youths know each other.

Addressing the media on Thursday afternoon, Detective Inspector Adam Solah said the intended final destination of the youths was unknown, except they were looking to travel to Sydney.

Detective Inspector Solah alleged their “high speed driving in and out of traffic” was “extremely dangerous” and their attitude and behaviour was “very concerning”.

“It’s very concerning the behaviour of young people who think (allegedly) stealing a car is effectively a joke is what they’re making of it,’’ he said.

“We don’t treat it as such.”
