BEING surrounded by beautiful people, like Jesinta Franklin and Dannii Minogue, has its perks but make-up artist Bernadette Fisers used this to gather life-changing weight loss tips.
Armed with these tips this 50-year-old mum lost 30kg in 30 weeks.
“I realised when sandwiches were delivered to set Michelle Bridges would pick the inside of the sandwich out and not eat the white bread — which has very little nutritional value,” she says.
“Now I don’t eat white bread. While Jesinta Franklin always carries healthy snacks. There are a lot of lollies and pastries on our shoots so now I make sure I have a healthy snack with me, like strawberries or a boiled egg.”
Fisers has travelled the world working on famous faces like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston but was an “epic fail” in terms of her own weight.
Things came to a head when her BMI hit 42 and she was labelled “morbidly obese”at the end of 2015.
Taking matters into her own hands, she began interviewing the models she works with, and doing her own research, to create a healthy lifestyle plan.
Her recommendations, contained in her The Little Book of Big Weightloss, include cutting out sugar and diet foods and eating full fats and fresh foods while watching portion sizes and the times you eat.
Under her plan you start eating at 10am and finish eating at 7pm. In terms of exercise expect to be walking 10,000 steps a day.
“Big weight loss is all about the food. Exercise is important to a lesser extent — for me, it’s walking and, in summer, swimming — this year in a bikini … woo hoo,” she says.
HOW SHE DID IT
• Stop eating sugar, fizzy drinks and juices
• Don’t buy diet foods, full fat foods will make you feel fuller longer
• Watch your portion size. Protein should be the size of your palm, plus plenty of leafy greens.
• No pasta, white potatoes or white rice
• Try to eat far less processed foods, buy fresh foods
• Walk 10,000 steps a day. It’s not only good for your body but mentally it really helps
• Start eating at 10am and finish eating at 7pm
MORE FROM BERNADETTE
My method of weight loss costs nothing — it’s simply a shift in how you shop and eat. Lots of people lose weight on fad diets, only to regain it back within five years — and more. In fact, close to 90 per cent do. So stop counting calories, its annoying and time consuming and you don’t need to when you eat according to my rules. I wish you the best with your health and weight.
