The overall winner of last year’s Sydney to Hobart yacht race will be on the start line this year but not the fastest boat to Hobart.
A fleet of 50 yachts has already entered for the 76th running of the famous Bluewater classic which starts at 1pm on Boxing Day.

SYDNEY TO HOBART: How Ichi Ban won
Sydney skipper Matt Alan and his crew on Ichi Ban are one of the 50 boats already entered for the 2020 addition of the race.
But missing will be the supermaxi Comanche, which took line honours last year under skipper Jim Cooney but has since been sold overseas.
To date two international entries have entered – the French yacht Caro and the New Zealand boat with Wasabi.
It is hoped a fleet of around 100 will contest the 2020 race south after 157 raced to Hobart last year for the 75th anniversary of the race.
