Robert Souter: convicted paedophile facing new child porn charges
A convicted paedophile who was booted out of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for preying on boys has been back before the courts facing child porn charges.

A convicted paedophile who was excommunicated by the Jehovah’s Witnesses for preying on boys in the congregation of a Wollongong church is back in court on child porn charges.
Robert Leslie Souter, 66, appeared in Waverley Local Court on Wednesday on two charges of possessing child abuse material and 16 counts of failing to comply with his reporting conditions.
Souter, who previously lived in Wollongong where he was sentenced to jail in 2000 and again in 2008 for sexually abusing three brothers from the Jehovah Witness Corrimal church, now lives in Surry Hills, court documents state.
The previous convictionsoccurred during the late 1970s and early 80s and Souter was eligible for parole in 2015.
A grey and balding Souter appeared dressed in a grey cardigan and tan shoes and pants.
His case was briefly mentioned before Magistrate Ross Hudson on Wednesday.
It was set down for a hearing, expected to take three hours, in Waverley Local Court on Monday February 22 next year.
Magistrate Hudson continued Souter’s bail.
