A computer analyst from India who allegedly took secret pictures and videos of topless women at Bronte and Bondi has been charged, allegedly telling police he was worried “his wife back home would slap him if she knew”.

Ravi Pal, 42, of Parramatta, was at Bronte Beach around 3pm yesterday when he caught the attention of lifeguards.

Two women had alleged that Pal – who is on a temporary working visa and only arrived in Australia last month – had secretly taken photos of half-naked beachgoers that afternoon.

When lifeguards confronted Pal, he handed over his phone, which allegedly contained “numerous photos and videos” of topless women on the beach, police facts of the incident said.

According to the alleged facts, after the lifeguard raised the alarm with nearby police officers, Pal expressed his remorse and said: “if my wife back home in India knew she would slap me”.

After scrolling through Pal’s phone, officers found more pictures of either topless or bikini-clad beachgoers from that afternoon in Bronte, but also on November 19 in Bondi, including: a topless sunbather on her back at Bondi, another half-naked sunbather at Bronte on Saturday, as well as another zoomed-in image of two topless girls.

The photos were all time-stamped and geo-tagged.

According to the facts, there were more photos on Pal’s phone which “zoomed in on females’ buttocks while lying on the beach” and others where Pal had zoomed in on women’s naked breasts.

Pal was arrested at Bronte Beach and taken to Waverley Police Station where he was charged with two counts of intentionally recording intimate images without consent.

Pal was refused bail by police and appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on December 13.

His phone was seized by police officers for further investigation.
