A glamorous event planner from the eastern suburbs arrested for her alleged involvement in a “dial-a-dealer” drug syndicate will remain behind bars for at least 12 nights.
Danielle Tara Hogan, 24, from North Bondi, is the latest alleged member of a cocaine syndicate to be collared by police after she was arrested on Thursday.
“A seventh person has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged “Dial-a-Dealer” syndicate by detectives from Redfern Region Enforcement Squad,” police said in a statement.
Hogan appeared in Central Local Court today via audiovisual link charged with five drug offences including supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis and participate in a criminal group.
Her defence argued she had “minimal involvement” in the alleged drug syndicate, claiming police had only referenced one allegation of her supplying cocaine in the police facts.
“There is only one reference that there was a positive supply by Miss Hogan, on the 13 of September,” he said.
“There is only one discreet supply that is mentioned, that supply of 0.64g.”
He also took aim at the term “accused” in the police facts, which in some cases lacked clarity on whether it was talking about Hogan or someone else.
However, the prosecutor denied Hogan had minimal involvement, stating she was heavily involved in the alleged drug syndicate.
“This is a strong prosecution case and I say that because this is an ongoing investigation where the accused has been identified as a strong link within the criminal syndicate.”
The court was also told Hogan suffers from depression and anxiety.
Her defence did not apply for bail and her matter has been adjourned until Tuesday, November 19 for a bail application.
Police allege Hogan knew the six other people recently arrested by Strike Force Northrop, which also saw police locate 1.6kg of cocaine and $40,000 cash in raids in Bankstown, Croydon Park, Yagoona, Potts Hill and Condell Park.
Police said they believed the cocaine had been destined for racegoers and revellers over the Melbourne Cup weekend.
Four men – two aged 28 and two aged 29 – and two other women – aged 24 and 27 – have been charged and remain before the courts.
In May, strike force detectives arrested and charged 55 people during an operation into dial-a-dealer services in Sydney’s CBD and eastern suburbs.
That operation helped put detectives onto the latest alleged syndicate.
