A junior solicitor accused of choking and raping multiple women has had his practising certificate suspended in the wake of the charges.

Oska Purcell, now 26, has been hit with 22 charges over multiple allegations of violent and sexual offending against a number of women.

In a recently published decision, the Council of the Law Society of NSW confirmed it had suspended the Cranbrook School graduate’s practising certificate until June 30, 2026 due to him being “charged with a number of serious offences”.

The commercial litigation solicitor was initially granted bail on two charges of choking, three of sexual intercourse without consent, sexual touching, performing a sex act without consent, threatening to distribute an intimate image, two of using a carriage service to harass, and assault.

Before he could even leave his cell at Waverley police station, officers had rearrested him and charged him anew with common assault, two counts of intimidation, choking, and assault causing actual bodily harm over allegations brought by a second woman.

He was refused bail, and police later laid a further five charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, two counts of using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend, and two counts of sexual intercourse without consent.

Purcell was granted strict bail in March after nine months on remand.

After Purcell’s first bail application last July, a spokesman for his employer Pryor, Tzannes and Wallis Law said he had been temporarily “stood down effective immediately”.

The court heard at the time Purcell intended to defend all the matters, with Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge noting it was the fourth time the young lawyer had been charged with offences against women.

Two matters in 2019 and 2022 were dismissed on mental health grounds.

“He continues with the same kind of behaviour with other women,” Ms Milledge said.

“This causes a grave concern – if it’s not brought into check, it could escalate into something worse than we’ve seen.”

Purcell’s matter is next listed for a committal mention on July 17.
