Malcolm Turnbull named as ‘guest of honour’ at opening of Bondi Junction pilates studio
HE certainly needed to be flexible in his former role as Prime Minister and now the secret behind Malcolm Turnbull’s agility has been revealed.
HE certainly needed to be flexible in his former role as Prime Minister and now the secret behind Malcolm Turnbull’s agility has been revealed.
The former Prime Minister is a pilates fan and regular client at Bondi Junction’s Elite Spinal Physio and Pilates Studio on Oxford St.
Turnbull is such a fan of the eastern suburbs clinic that he has been named as the “guest of honour” at the official opening of the studio next month.
Described as Sydney’s “premiere spine and headache treatment centre” Elite Spinal Physio and Pilates Studio incorporates both clinical Pilates and exercise rehabilitation methods to help clients achieve a stronger core, improve flexibility, posture and overall conditioning.
Turnbull’s love of pilates isn’t something he’s picked up post-politics either.
His love of the fitness method goes back at least five years, telling GQ in 2013 that he regularly engages in pilates “for flexibility”.
In May 2017 he also told Triple M radio he and wife Lucy know their way around a reformer bed.
“I do some Pilates occasionally. Lucy is very keen on Pilates,” he said.
Fitness has always been a big part of the Point Piper resident’s life.
“I paddle a kayak. Ride a bike occasionally. So, you know, I do a variety of things — you’ve gotta mix it up but the important thing is to keep moving. Exercise every day and get your sleep. That’s two good tips to be prime minister.
“I try to do something every day and succeed around five or six days in seven,” he said.
