John Macrae: Ex Sydney police officer on historic sexual assault charges
A former Senior Constable will face court on allegations he sexually abused two girls while working in the force.

A former police officer accused of sexually assaulting two girls in the eastern suburbs during the 1970s intends to defend the charges.
John Damian Terence Macrae, 69, did not appear in person but had his case mentioned before Waverley Local Court on Tuesday (May 18).
The allegations of sex offences allegedly committed by a former cop in Sydney’s eastern suburbs have been revealed in court documents.
Police allege Macrae, 69, who now lives in the Brisbane suburb of Carindale, allegedly offended against his first victim, a 15 year old girl, back in the 1970s.
Court documents reveal Macrae, then a serving police officer, “did carnally know” the girl.
It is further alleged he assaulted a second victim three times in the mid to late 1970s.
He is charged with assault female and commit act of indecency which is specified as being digital penetration on all three of the dates and committing fellatio on one of the victims.
Speaking outside the court, Macrae’s barrister Marcus Juhasz told the media his client was maintaining not guilty pleas.
“The charges haven’t officially been certified,” Mr Juhasz said outside court.
“There’s a formal negotiation process that goes ahead.
“The format is it is (then) set down for trial and that’s where we’re at.”
Inside court, Magistrate Ross Hudson heard Macrae no longer lived in NSW.
“My client resides in Queensland at the moment. Can he be excused if legally represented on the next occasion?” Mr Juhasz asked.
“Not on a charge certification,” Magistrate Hudson said.
“He should be present.”
Magistrate Hudson set the matter down for charge certification at Downing Centre Local Court on July 1.
He was formerly a Senior Constable attached to a police station in the Sydney Metropolitan area.
He left the force in 1983 and the alleged offences occurred while he was a serving police officer.
The investigation was carried out by officers from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command.
