A former bodybuilder and construction boss says he is “relieved” charges relating to possessing prescription-only medication were dropped, stating he had been “painted with a negative stigma”.
Bondi man, Bryce Hollis, 28, was due to face a hearing at Waverley Local Court over three charges of possessing or attempting to possess a prescribed restricted drug.
On Tuesday, all three charges were dropped prior to a hearing taking place.
Police tried to allege Hollis was in possession of melatonin, valium, and BPC 157 — a type of experimental peptide — which were seized at his Bondi home during a search in November last year.
Hollis is subject to a firearms prohibition order, which grants police power to search his residence, vehicle or place of work without needing a warrant.
After charges were laid, Hollis provided numerous affidavits to the court stating the drugs were not his, with police having limited evidence to prove otherwise.
High profile criminal solicitor Ahmed Dib represented Hollis, telling this masthead the police “applied logic to the circumstances and evidence” leading to his client’s acquittal.
Outside court, Hollis said he was “relieved” the charges were dropped, stating “there’s this negative stigma painted about me”.
“Today as Mr Dib reiterated we are just relieved the police used logic,” he said.
