We’ve all heard about the importance of having a healthy mind and body and so with social worker turned fitness guru Susie Purcell, we present the whole package.
Ms Purcell, owner and trainer at SheCamp Group Fitness for Women Maroubra, was the standout winner of NewsLocal’s reader voted best eastern suburbs fitness trainer competition.
The dedicated trainer, who has been operating at Maroubra Beach for the past decade and now also trains at Sydney Park and St Peters, said she believed her background in mental health was a crucial part of developing her programs.
“My philosophy is that fitness is for life so the ability to move freely and with strength is necessary to meet the demands of each day,” Ms Purcell said.
“To provide the best experience for my clients, over the past 10 years I’ve created safe and supportive outdoor sessions for women of all ages, fitness levels and backgrounds.
“I was born and bred in Maroubra and I’m a firm believer that there is no better way to start the day than exercising at our local beach.”
Coming in second place is eastern suburbs character and F45 expert Bill Flemming.
Mr Flemming is known around Bondi for his enthusiastic personality and signature call out to participants.
“Morning, morning, morning! Come on in, let’s begin,” he yells at the beginning of each class.
Third place was a tie between Bella Cignetti who works out of Des Renford Leisure Centre, Maroubra and Charles Myssy The People’s Coach of Bondi.
Mr Myssy is co-host of The Channel Earth podcast and co-owner of holistic wellbeing studio Bondi Health House.
