Roxy Jacenko’s mum Doreen Davis has confirmed her rumoured desire to knock down the $5 million Vaucluse cottage she bought earlier this year by lodging a proposal to build an elegant mansion right across the street from her daughter.
The family matriarch plans to build a $7.8 million, four bedroom home which boasts two bathrooms plus a further three ensuites and a powder room across its three storeys.
According to Roxy, her kids have already staked their claim on grandma’s spare bedrooms.
“The design by William Smart and interiors by Blainey North (who also did my home which is across the road) are just a cut above and we can’t wait to see it come to life,” Roxy told the Wentworth Courier.
“Even better that we will be so close together as a family.
“My kids, Pixie and Hunter have already said they are moving out and into Doreen’s new digs!”
The children are evidently the apples of grandma’s eye and she regularly posts Instagram tributes to her beloved grandkids.
The development, which at 9.5m complies with the local planning controls, will involve bulldozing the existing cottage as well as excavating basement carpark and the installation of a swimming pool.
“The high-quality proposal by the reputable architects will reinvigorate the site with a contemporary dwelling,” the planning documents before Woollahra Council read.
The documents also reveal a grand jacaranda on the block will be retained with Ms Davis going to great lengths to ensure the tree is left untouched.
“The entire design process has been driven by the retention of the prominent jacaranda tree at the rear of the subject site, which requires a highly skilful design to appropriately respond to the site’s inherent challenges,” the plans read.
