Darlinghurst body found: Forbes Street closed off

A major road has been closed off after police discovered the body of a man this morning.

The body of a man has been found on a Darlinghurst street this morning, according to police.

Forbes St in Darlinghurst has been blocked off and inquiries are continue.

Emergency services were called to a building on Forbes St at about 8.30am.

“Officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command attended and found a body of a man,” the police spokeswoman said.

“He is yet to be forensically identified.”

A crime scene has been established and inquiries are continuing into the circumstances.

Police have blocked off the road directly outside Sydney Church of England Girls’ Grammar School (SCEGGS).

Police have closed off part of Forbes Street

A spokeswoman for the private school said the campus was not in lockdown despite its proximity to the crime scene.

“The safety of our students is paramount and we are doing everything to keep our girls safe,” the spokeswoman said.

“The incident doesn’t involve SCEGGS, it doesn’t affect the school and the school is not in lockdown.”

A police spokeswoman said the death is not currently being treated as suspicious.
