Daniel O’Keefe: Police seek interim AVO against Bondi model: court

A Bondi model, represented by one of Australia’s leading agencies, has appeared in court as police seek an interim apprehended violence order to protect a woman.

A Bondi model, who boasts more than 30,000 Instagram followers, has graced the cover of Men’s Health magazines and fronted international campaigns, has appeared in court as police seek an interim apprehended violence order to be made against him.

Daniel O’Keefe, 37, faced Waverley Local Court on Thursday as police sought an interim AVO to protect a woman.

The woman is known to the model, according to court records.

No charges have been made alongside the interim AVO application, according to police.

Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge said the application had been submitted and set aside two hours for the matter to be heard.

O’Keefe expressed disappointment at the date set for the hearing – in November 23, 2022 – however Magistrate Milledge said the backlog from Covid had made long delays unavoidable and was out of the court’s hands.

The magistrate noted the conditions of the interim AVO would restrain O’Keefe for the next 17 months until a hearing would take place and evidence from witnesses would be heard.

“I appreciate the unfairness of these matters going over, it’s just ridiculous,” Magistrate Milledge said.

O’Keefe, who appeared restrained and respectful in court, said he had retained legal representation.

He asked if he could call his own witnesses to the hearing and if the protected person would be present.

Magistrate Milledge told him she would have to be subpoenaed if he wished for her to be present.

The model is currently part of the Chadwick modelling stable, which represents high-profile Australian models Jessica Hart and Adut Akech, along with influencer Laura Henshaw.
