WHILE most of us are hanging ten before we can bring ourselves to launch from under the covers, a brave band of surfers have been enjoying swell, albeit chilly morning conditions along the eastern beaches.

On both Sunday and Monday mornings it got down to a frosty 7.2C according to the Wedding Cake observation tower in Sydney Harbour.

“People in eastern Sydney haven’t seen mornings this cool since this time in 2010,” said BOM duty forecaster Katarina Kovacevic.

The cool mornings were caused by a high pressure system, light winds and clear skies

But with the water temperature a comparatively balmly 18.3 it’s no wonder winter ocean swimmers have been spotted gleefully diving in since the weekend.

There will be some relief from the single digit minimums over the coming days with a low of 12C predicted for Friday.

The afternoons will be warmer too with highs of 18C today and 19C tomorrow.
