Cody Reynolds to be sentenced for child abuse material offences

A former head of English at a prestigious eastern suburbs private school will soon learn his fate after he admitted to using online communication platforms to engage with child abuse material.

A former head of English at a prestigious eastern suburbs private school will soon learn his fate after he admitted to transmitting and possessing child abuse material.

Cody Michael Reynolds, 37, has pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to transmit, publish or promote child abuse and using a carriage service to possess or control child abuse material.

Reynolds, from Surry Hills, was previously a teacher and the Head of English at Moriah College in Queens Park, a coeducational Modern Jewish Orthodox private school.

News Corp Australia previously reported a court heard Reynolds was allegedly caught with a “large number” of videos involving pubescent children and some still in their “infant years”.

The offences are understood to have been uncovered while police were investigating another person’s alleged engagement with child abuse material.

Reynolds appeared briefly with his barrister Ryan Coffey before Judge Warwick Hunt at Sydney District Court, where he confirmed his pleas of guilty to both charges.

Judge Hunt set Reynolds’ sentence for April 6, and a sentencing assessment report from Community Corrections was ordered.

Reynolds wore sunglasses and a face mask as he left court after his bail was continued.
