HE may represent the Shire in parliament but Scott Morrison’s roots are very much in the eastern beaches.

Mr Morrison is the second Prime Minister in a row raised in the electorate of Wentworth.

The family grew up in a modest home in Bronte and were devout members of the Uniting Church at Bondi Junction.

In fact he has such fond memories of his beachside upbringing, he mentioned them in his first press conference after the leadership spill.

“I know the beaches of Bronte pretty well, having grown up on them as a kid, and played footy on the local fields, and I look forward to going back and probably getting to pop in and see mum and dad while I am about,” Mr Morrison said.

Mr Morrison’s introduction to politics came as a nine-year-old when he handed out how-to-vote cards for his father John — a policeman who would go on to serve as Waverley mayor.

After finishing his education at Sydney Boys High in Moore Park, Mr Morrison wed his childhood sweetheart Jenny, who he met through the church, at just 21.

They have two young daughters Lily and Abbey who the couple battled for 14 years and through 10 rounds of IVF to conceive.

The 50-year-old entered politics in 2007 when he was preselected for the seat of Cook in the Sutherland Shire.

Prior to political life he was a former Tourism Australia boss and gave the nod to the infamous “Where the bloody hell are ya?” campaign starring Bingle.

Mr Morrison knows a thing or two about advertising campaigns having starred in ta cough lolly ad as a child which had the slogan “Vicks’ll lick a ticklin’ throat”.

Australia’s 30th Prime Minister is also a big Tina Arena fan.
