Bondi Icebergs has lodged plans to overhaul and relocate its members cafe, as part of a revamp of the iconic swimmers club.
The proposal, which includes relocating the fit-out and its cafe operations on the pool level of the building, was lodged with Waverley Council last week.
Under the plans the cafe will move to a larger section of the floor to deal with an increase in customers, with an influx of summer visitors just around the corner.
The project has been put out to tender, however the plans have been listed as “withdrawn”, though an Icebergs spokeswoman was unaware why.
The works are part of an even bigger plan to change things up on the pool-level floor of the club, where the reception and changing rooms also recently got a makeover.
Home to arguably the best view in Sydney, Icebergs has long-held the crown of the country’s most-Instagrammed location.
Its stunning views see thousands of visitors a week make the trip up to 1 Notts Ave.
“The new location increases the size from approximately 26m2 to 38m2 allowing for some internal seating. The cafe hours are unchanged,” Russel Prescott of Prescott Architects wrote in a letter to council last week.
The changes at Icebergs are minor in comparison to the $70 million re-imagining of Bondi Beach.
Last week, the ball was set rolling on Waverley Council’s Bondi Blueprint, with a $3 million renovation of the renown lifeguard tower flagged as the first of an $8 million step in the mammoth project.
The biggest spend of the plan, however, will come in the shape of the $26 million Bondi pavilion redevelopment.
