A private school teacher who engaged in a sexual relationship with a teenage student will have to wait to face his victim in court after she was refused entry over her visits to a coronavirus hotspot.
Former Reddam House teacher Ben Fenner, 35, is set to be sentenced for several counts of having sexual intercourse with the girl who is a former student.
Fenner had engaged in several encounters with the now young woman at homes in the eastern suburbs and the Central Coast.
The woman was refused entry into the Downing Centre District Court today after visiting a listed coronavirus hotspot, believed to be the Crossroads Hotel.
Fenner was stood down from his role at the exclusive eastern suburbs school after news of his dramatic arrest at a Mascot Cafe broke last June.
He has pleaded guilty to sexual intercourse with a person under his care.
The $32,000 a year school had brought in counsellors for students who were troubled by the allegations at the time.
“Since the allegation became known, we have been focused on supporting the students and minimising any impact on them and on the wider school community,” the school previously said.
Fenner was a senior teacher at Reddam who had headed up its Duke of Edinburgh program before he was stood down and changed his address last July.
He was charged after the then 17-year-old came forward and disclosed details of their relationship to police.
The former teacher will be sentenced back at the same court on September 17.
