The Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory wants to put customers to the test to curate unique flavours, despite the already “high standard” of the company’s treats, which often sell out.
Sales and marketing co-ordinator Rhiannon Druce said the team at the factory have a “perfectionist” view when it comes to chocolate.
They make 400 kilogram batches of one variety of chocolate every couple of months, but are wanting more feedback on “accidental” batches.
Ms Druce said the team sometimes create products and believe “they’re not great”, but find customers who try samples “are obsessed with them”.
“We’re now reaching out to people to ask if they would like to be a one-off taste tester for us,” she said.
“We would like to post products to them and have them provide some feedback on it.”
Ms Druce said customers of any age and from any location can apply to taste test.
She said the factory wants to hear whether a product is good, bad or could use improvement.
“It’s a really good opportunity for us to get some better feedback from customers and for them to eat some free chocolate and potentially try some new flavours,” Ms Druce said.
She said she hoped to get a “genuine assortment of humans” involved in the taste testing trial and was not targeting a certain demographic.
“98 per cent of the world craves chocolate, so you can’t target just one age group or one gender or anything like that – we just want genuine feedback,” Ms Druce said.
Not only is the factory trialling caramel and popping candy, but the business is also hoping to incorporate local fruit in its products.
Applications for taste testing are open online on the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory website and close July 14.
