Mitchellmore St, Wagga Wagga: Man, 69, hit by Ford Falcon

A 69-year-old man was rushed to hospital after he was hit by a car in the state’s southwest, however his injuries were so severe he was unable to be saved.

A man has died after he was hit by a car while walking in Wagga Wagga.

Emergency services rushed to Mitchellmore St at Mount Austin about 5.45pm Wednesday following reports a pedestrian had been hit.

The 69-year-old man had been walking along the street when he was struck by a Ford Falcon.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a critical condition with serious head and internal injuries.

Despite the efforts of hospital staff, he died a short time later.

Officers from the Riverina Police District established a crime scene and the driver of the Ford, a 31-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
