Albury: Police investigating two car fires

Two separate car fires in the space of a few hours have stunned residents of a regional town in NSW’s south, who were forced to battle the blazes with neighbours.

Quick-thinking residents were forced to battle a car fire outside their homes after discovering the blaze in NSW’s far south on Thursday.

Police are investigating two separate vehicle fires which shocked the Albury community.

The first fire was discovered after midnight in Waratah Crescent in West Albury.

Neighbours alerted the residents of the home after seeing flames coming from the car, before working together to extinguish the inferno.

A second car was found alight hours later at 5:30am in Buckingham Street, North Albury.

Homeowners at that address woke to find their car on fire and also managed to extinguish the flames with assistance from neighbours.

Murray River police established crime scenes at both locations and are investigating the fires – both believed to be suspicious.
