Police tried to stop the car but it failed to do so and a pursuit went through numerous suburbs, including Tolland, Glenfield Park and Ashmont, before police terminated it when the car went onto Sturt Highway.
“The driver was cutting corners and occasionally turning the headlights off,” police said in a statement.
The registration plates on the Magna are ZIY258.
About 9.17pm on Saturday, a car believed to be a silver Holden Captiva was speeding on Flack Crescent in Boorooma when it left the road and smashed into gas and water mains in front of a house.
The car stopped near Darcy Avenue where the occupants left the car and fled.
Police arrived a short time later and closed the road until the gas and water could be turned off.
Inspector Aichinger is urging for help from the public in relation to both incidents.
Officers were also kept busy during a road blitz at the weekend with eight drivers charged with mid- to high-range drink driving.
A 21-year-old man, who allegedly returned a reading of 0.152 was also charged with possess prohibited drug after police allegedly found 1g of cocaine on him.
Police also made 10 arrests for positive roadside drug tests and issued 35 infringements.
“Given the current restrictions of COVID-19, it’s a bit surprising to have that many drink drivers,” Inspector Aichinger said.
“To have eight drink drivers, it makes you wonder where these people are going under such restrictions and where they’re drinking.”
