Man, 72, dies in Wagga hospital after car crash on Olympic Highway near Junee

A man has died after succumbing to his injuries from a single-vehicle crash when his car left the road and hit a tree north of Junee.

A man has died after sustaining injuries in car crash in Junee.

Shortly after 7.30am on Tuesday, emergency services were called to the Olympic Highway north of Junee, following reports of a single vehicle crash.

The vehicle — a ute — was believed to be travelling in a south-westerly direction before it left the road and hit a tree.

The driver and sole occupant — a 72-year-old man — initially presented to NSW Ambulance Paramedics with minor injuries.

He was taken to Wagga Base Hospital where his condition deteriorated.

The man died shortly after 5.30pm.

Riverina Police District officers attended the crash site and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
