Coolamon: Woman allegedly spits on cop after driving illegally

A Coolamon woman will face court after she allegedly swore and spat on a police officer in the midst of a global pandemic after she was caught driving illegally.

A Coolamon woman allegedly swore and spat on the face of a police officer yesterday after she was intercepted for allegedly driving without number plates.

Police stopped a gold Nissan X-Trail SUV on Dennis Crescent, Tolland, at about 2.10pm on Wednesday November 25, after she was sighted allegedly not displaying registration plates.

Police spoke with the 44-year-old female driver, who was unable to produce a permit for the vehicle.

The woman allegedly then became aggressive and spat in the face of a senior police officer.

She was arrested and taken to Wagga Police Station where she was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm and not comply noticed direction re spitting/coughing – COVID-19.

The woman will also be issued infringement notices for using an unregistered motor vehicle and offensive language in a public place.

She will appear in Wagga Local Court on January 27, 2021.
