A man has been charged after a stand-off with police involving tactical units swarming a central Wagga street yesterday.

Ashmont’s Carl Little, 27, appeared via video link in Wagga Local Court for the charges of assault, intimidate a police officer, break and enter and commit a serious indictable offence, kidnapping a person intending to obtain an advantage and possessing prohibited drug.

Little also faces three counts of common assault and one count each of police pursuit, stealing a car, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and armed with the intent to commit an indictable act.

Little has not pleaded to any of the charges; however, magistrate Christopher Halburd ordered Little at his next court appearance to enter pleas to the less serious offences.

In court today, he was refused bail.

Shortly after 8am yesterday, Wagga police officers attended Gurwood Street home to speak with Little about the alleged intimidation of a police officer.

Following a brief stand-off, Little was arrested and taken to Wagga Police Station where he was kept in custody.

Police have alleged that he made threats online towards a Riverina Police District officer.

It has also been alleged Little kidnapped a woman unknown to him during the stand-off yesterday.

The woman was not physically injured.

Little is scheduled to reappear in court on April 22 for the less serious charges and May 27 for the break and enter, kidnapping and drug charges.

He would be excused on both occasions if legally represented.

Solicitor Daniel Maxton represented Little today while Sergeant Jason Tozer was the police prosecutor.
