A second man has been charged over an alleged public place shooting on the NSW south coast earlier this year, where a sawn-off shotgun was uncovered.
Troy Vlahos, 31, appeared in the Nowra Local Court on Monday, facing charges of fire a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons or property, possess loaded firearm in a public place, possess shortened firearm without authority, use supplied stolen firearm or firearm part and possess ammunition without holding licence or permit authority.
The Nowra man is yet to enter pleas to the litany of charges.
The latest arrest comes months after police were called to a property on Beach Rd, Denhams Beach near Batemans Bay on January 12 this year, following reports of shots fired.
Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and established a crime scene.
Police established Strike Force Implant to investigate the circumstances surrounding the public place shooting.
A sawn-off firearm was seized at the scene and taken for forensic examination.
Following initial reports, officers attached to South Coast Regional Enforcement Squad executed a search warrant at a home in Bruce St, St Georges Basin on March 14.
Following the search warrant, 41-year-old Michael Rattenbury was arrested and charged with fire a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons or property, possess loaded firearm in a public place, possess shortened firearm without authority, use supplied stolen firearm or firearm part and possess ammunition without holding licence or permit authority.
He previously faced Batemans Bay Local Court on March 25 this year and has also not yet entered pleas.
However, following continued investigations from the South Coast Police District on May 3, Vlahos was also arrested and charged.
He appeared in Nowra Local Court the same day, where he was refused bail.
In the same court on Monday, Vlahos had a second bail attempt with lawyer Matthew Zappia, which was refused again by Magistrate Lisa Viney given the seriousness of the allegations.
The court also heard Vlahos was the second man charged in the alleged offences, adding to the seriousness.
Vlahos will remain in custody and is set to reappear in the Nowra Local Court on May 20, where he will appear via video link.
