A south coast man has been charged with dealing drugs after a roadside drug test allegedly found weed, ice and cocaine in his system.
Thomas Oliver Jessop, 33, of Bega faced Batemans Bay Local Court on November 1 charged with possessing a tablet press or drug encapsulator, possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit, cultivating a prohibited plant, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, and supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug.
Magistrate Doug Dick granted him conditional bail, which includes strict curfew conditions and abstaining from alcohol and drugs, unless prescribed by a doctor.
Police allege they stopped Mr Jessop’s white Toyota sedan on Newton Road in Bega at 7pm on Saturday as part of Operation Chrome.
While he passed a roadside breath test, police allege after further inquiries he was then found in possession of a knife and cocaine.
Police allege 47 grams of cannabis in three resealable bags was found near the front passenger seat of his car and drug paraphernalia was allegedly found in the boot.
They also allege a roadside drug test found Mr Jessop had cannabis, ice and cocaine in his system at the time, with the results undergoing further analysis.
After further inquiries, police executed a search warrant on Mr Jessop’s home later that night, allegedly finding a clandestine lab inside, as well as items police allege are consistent with the manufacture of prohibited drugs.
The alleged lab was dismantled by the Drug and Firearms Squad’s Chemical Operations Team the following day, with police allegedly also locating LSD, weed, magic mushrooms and a powder believed to be heroin.
A search of the home by the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment on Wednesday resulted in the seizure of a number of plants which police say are undergoing further forensic examination.
Mr Jessop will face Bega Local Court on November 23.
