An aspiring MMA fighter and champion junior wrestler will fight charges of affray after allegedly stabbing a man during a daring night-time robbery on the NSW south coast.

Jake James Treyvaud, 20, appeared at Nowra Local Court on Tuesday on multiple charges, including two separate charges of aggravated robbery following an incident on October 19 in Nowra.

About 9.30pm, Treyvaud allegedly held up two men while armed with a knife, stealing more than $4000 of cash and goods, including personal ID cards and two Samsung smartphones.

Police allege that Treyvaud stabbed one of the men during the robbery, leaving a 2cm deep and 2.5cm wide wound to the man’s right abdomen area.

The following day, Treyvaud is alleged to have harmed another man about midday in nearby Bomaderry.

He has since been charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.

The charges come after Treyvaud was slapped with an affray charge following an incident on March 27.

About 11.30pm, Treyvaud is accused of using a “cutting weapon” against two men in the seaside town, causing lacerations. The offence was committed in company and was captured on CCTV, police allege.

Appearing at Nowra Local Court on Monday, lawyer Hannah Dreher told Magistrate Lisa Viney Treyvaud was pleading not guilty to the affray charge. Pleas for the other three charges have not been entered.

Treyvaud, who was on parole at the time, has made a name for himself in south coast martial arts, having trained with the likes of MMA star Alexander Volkanovski at Windang’s Freestyle Fighting Gym.

He has also been Australia Wrestling Champion, Australian Pankration Champion, and Australian MMA Champion, and represented the country at the IMMAF World Championships in Rome.

But, documents tendered to court reveal the once up-and-coming star now lives in Sussex Inlet with his parents who employ him part-time, having been convicted seven times for violent offences, bail considerations detail.

Treyvaud, who is in custody having been refused bail, will appear before Nowra Local Court on January 24.
