A Nomads bikie has faced court after police alleged he was caught with a replica firearm and knuckledusters.
Jason Tattersall, 47, from Sanctuary Point faced Nowra Local Court last Friday on charges of possess unauthorised pistol, possess or use a prohibited weapon with permit and not keep firearm safely-pistol.
No plea was entered.
Solicitor Phillip Carey applied for Tattersall’s bail after his client was arrested at his home on Thursday night.
Police allegedly found a replica firearm, prohibited drugs and knuckledusters at Tattersall’s property.
Tattersall is subject to a Firearms Prohibition Order and a Weapons Prohibition Order.
Mr Carey said in court it was difficult to determine if the gun found was real, due to him only seeing a photograph.
He also cited his own knowledge in firearms as a legal owner of guns.
“I know some things about guns and this was a replica,” he said.
“This was a toy.”
Magistrate Lisa Viney disagreed.
“This does not appear to be a child’s toy,” she said.
“It appears by the photograph to indeed be a pistol.”
The court heard of Tattersall’s “lengthy record” and that he is currently serving parole for serious matters of violence, a fact Mrs Viney said did not help the chances of bail.
“This is a strong prosecution case,” she said.
Tattersall was refused bail and the matter was adjourned for two weeks.
