A South Australian man charged with dangerous driving occasioning death after a crash near Narooma has had his “serious” matter briefly return to court.
Robert Salerno, 40, was charged over the tragic incident on December 30 on the Princes Hwy, near Narooma, which resulted in the death of 39-year-old Holly Deacon, and injuries to Marcus Asalemo, Eric Asalemo and Alfreda Mareci.
He has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning in death, negligent driving occasioning in death, three counts of dangerous driving occasioning in grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning in grievous bodily harm. No pleas have yet been entered.
Police will allege in court the dangerous driving of Salerno saw his Audi crash into multiple vehicles, resulting in the death and injuries.
Salerno first appeared before Narooma Local Court in May where he was granted exemptions from appearing in any future mention of his matter, barring any possible hearing or sentencing, due to his home being in Campbelltown, South Australia.
On Monday, he was represented in court by lawyer Gregory Goold.
The police prosecutor told the court the officer in charge of the “serious” case had requested it be adjourned so additional information could be obtained.
Mr Goold did not oppose the request, nor did Magistrate Doug Dick.
“Given the seriousness of the matter, all information is needed,” Mr Dick said.
The matter was adjourned to September 25.
