Nowra: Two teenagers stolen car outside Shoalhaven High School

An alleged joy ride inside a stolen car for two teenagers ended in dramatic fashion after the vehicle collided with two parked cars and flipped on its roof in near a south coast high school.

Two teenagers, aged 13 and 16, alleged joy ride in a car ended in dramatic fashion after the vehicle collided with two parked cars and flipped on its roof in a school car park

The two teens were lucky to escape the chaotic scene at Nowra’s Shoalhaven High School student pick-up zone with only minor injuries which took place about 3pm on Friday.

Witnesses said they saw a black Subaru Forester flip on its roof after hitting two other cars and how they saw two “young” boys in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

“I want to know how two young teens got their hands on a car and did this,” Tiffany Jade asked on social media.

Officers from the Southern NSW Police District were called to the scene about 3pm following the crash and discovered the 13-year-old boy still sitting in the driver’s seat of the flipped car.

The young driver told police his 16-year-old passenger had fled the scene, then shared his location. He was soon discovered in another car just a few streets away.

Following checks, officers discovered the Subaru Forester had been stolen earlier this month from a Worrigee address. The boys are not accused of stealing the car.

The discovery was made after the two teens had been sent to the Shoalhaven Hospital for checking on minor injuries.

The boys were released from hospital, however police informed this publication investigations were ongoing.

The Nowra community has reacted to the incident with shock, noting how especially dangerous it was to drive the car recklessly through a school car park during pick up time.

Police are investigating how the car was stolen.
